Talal brings over 40 years of investment and corporate management experience in the GCC. Known for his impeccable character, Talal Al Zain has been a driving force in bringing strong governance and transparency to businesses in Bahrain. As a founding board member and the first CEO of Bahrain’s SWF, Mumtalakat Holding Company, Talal increased the transparency of the firm as well as that of some of the largest corporations in Bahrain such as Gulf Air and Trust Re.
Talal is also the Founder & Director of Jisr Capital. Jisr Capital is Mr. Al Zain’s holding company through which he owns and operates businesses in the region. From 2008 to 2012 he was a member of the founding board and the CEO of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, the sovereign wealth fund and investment arm for the Kingdom of Bahrain, where he established an institutional grade investment team and asset allocation program, lead the divestiture of non-core assets, restructured and raised debt financing in an aggregate amount of $1.25 Bio while obtaining an investment rating from credit rating agencies, and oversaw the IPO of Bahrain Aluminum on the Bahrain Stock Exchange. From 1990 to 2008 Talal spent 18 years with Investcorp Bank as Managing Director and Co-Head of Placement & Relationship Management where he focused on developing business in KSA and the broader GCC region. From 1985 to 1990 he was Vice President of Private Banking International and Head of Investment Banking Middle East with the Chase Manhattan Bank, Geneva. Prior to that, he was a corporate banker with Citibank Corporate Banking Division Bahrain focused on trading & manufacturing.
He previously chaired and served as a board member for many corporations including McLaren, the Bahrain Economic Development Board, Gulf Air, the Bahrain International Circuit, Bahrain Islamic Bank, and Alubaf Arab International Bank.
